Scope and who is responsible
This Privacy Policy explains how SBC Capital Inc. ("SBC Capital," "we," "us," or "our") handles personal information when you visit www.sbc.capital, register for or attend an event, request information, communicate with us, or otherwise use our services. SBC Capital Inc. is the organization responsible for the processing described here.
This policy does not govern a third party's independent practices. If you follow a third-party link or use a third-party platform, review that party's privacy notice.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identity and professional information: name, employer, title, professional role, audience category, and country.
- Contact information: business email address, telephone number, mailing address, and communication preferences.
- Event and transaction information: selected session and ticket, invitation or coupon code, registration status, attendance, order and payment status, consent records, and support correspondence. Payment card details are processed by our payment provider and are not stored by SBC Capital.
- Account information: authentication identifiers, membership status, and access entitlements.
- Participation content: questions, chat messages, survey responses, and—where a session is recorded—your display name, image, voice, or presentation content if you choose to contribute.
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, approximate location, pages viewed, and related diagnostic and analytics data.
We collect information directly from you, automatically through our website, from people or organizations that invite you to an event, and from service providers supporting our operations.
How and why we use information
- Provide the website, process registrations and payments, administer memberships, authenticate users, and deliver events and materials.
- Send transactional notices, including registration confirmations, access instructions, schedule changes, security messages, and receipts.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve our website, events, communications, and business processes.
- Respond to inquiries, maintain business relationships, and—where permitted—send relevant event or company updates.
- Protect SBC Capital, attendees, partners, and the public; prevent fraud and misuse; enforce our terms; and comply with law.
- Create aggregated or de-identified reporting that does not reasonably identify an individual.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract or pre-contract steps, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting our business, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where requested. You may withdraw consent prospectively at any time, without affecting processing already completed lawfully.
Notice at collection
Event registration notice
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to the service providers and other recipients described below for defined business purposes.
How we disclose information
We may disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary to:
- Service providers: website hosting and deployment, database and authentication, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, document storage, event delivery, and customer support. These providers are authorized to process information for contracted services and legal compliance.
- Event partners and speakers: where identified and necessary to administer a jointly presented event, subject to appropriate restrictions.
- Professional advisers and transaction parties: lawyers, auditors, insurers, financing sources, and actual or prospective parties to a corporate transaction, subject to confidentiality and applicable law.
- Authorities and affected parties: where we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent fraud.
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use recognized safeguards for international transfers.
Retention and deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide services, maintain registration and consent records, satisfy accounting and legal requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention depends on the nature and sensitivity of the information and applicable obligations.
Registration, order, and consent records are generally retained for up to seven years after the relevant event or transaction. Routine technical logs are generally retained for shorter operational periods. Marketing information is retained until you opt out or it is no longer useful, while a limited suppression record may be kept to honor your choice. Event recordings follow the retention and publication information provided for the specific event.
Information security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed for the nature of the information we process, including access controls, service-provider review, secure transmission, monitoring, and data minimization. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you should use care when sending sensitive information online.
Your privacy choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction of processing, or information about disclosures; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision on a privacy request. You may also opt out of optional marketing at any time using the unsubscribe method in the message.
To submit a request, email info@sbc.capital with the subject “Privacy request.” We may verify your identity and authority before acting. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. You may also contact the data-protection or consumer-protection authority in your jurisdiction.
Recorded events
Some events are recorded. We provide advance notice and explain the intended use. Attendees can ordinarily protect their privacy by keeping their camera and microphone off and avoiding identifying information in chat or Q&A. If you choose to speak, appear on camera, present, or submit content, that contribution may be captured. See our Recording Notice & Participant Consent for details.
Age limits and policy updates
Our website and professional events are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18. We may update this policy to reflect legal, operational, or technology changes. The version and effective date above identify the policy in force; material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
