Overview

About This Session

Private equity involves more than selecting a promising business. An investor must also understand the investment vehicle, who controls decisions, when capital may be required, how fees and incentives work, and what can happen when the original plan does not unfold as expected.

In this introductory webinar, Alexander Suvorov, Founder & Managing Principal at SBC Capital, will map the private-equity landscape and compare fund investing, direct investments, and deal-by-deal participation. We will follow an illustrative investment from commitment through deployment, ownership, and potential realization, highlighting the questions that belong in a disciplined review.

The session will introduce common performance vocabulary, explain why cash-flow timing and fee treatment matter, and examine liquidity constraints, leverage, concentration, valuation uncertainty, and execution risk. The aim is to provide a foundation for evaluating information and asking better questions, not to recommend an allocation or a particular investment.

Who should attend: investors new to private equity, family-office team members, business owners exploring private markets, and professionals seeking a clearer foundation in private-company investing.

Format: 70 minutes of teaching and an illustrative investment case, followed by 20 minutes of live Q&A. This is an educational webinar, not an offer of securities or personalized investment advice.
